Medomak Valley boys soccer team took Lincoln Academy out of their game early and shocked them with two first half goals against the wind to win 2-0 during their Homecoming match-up on Saturday. The Eagles had just come off an emotional high after battling KVAC powerhouse Camden to a 0-0 tie and rolling 5-0 over Mt.View.

The Eagles came out flat and could not find their groove against aggressive Panther defense, led by Jared Mank, Micah Williamson, and Jonathan Allard. Noah Beck had a solid game in net for Medomak, rejecting 12 Eagle shots. Lincoln held a 22-13 edge in shots, but many missiles missed their target high or wide.
Zidane McMurrin broke free on a Sam Morrill pass and collided with Eagle keeper Wally Morris. Morris partially blocked the shot, but the ball still had enough momentum to slowly roll into the far side of the goal to give the Panthers a 1-0 edge with 14:17 to go in the half.
The Panthers struck again in identical fashion when Micah Williamson booted a long pass down field to a speedy Morrill for a breakaway goal with 8:30 to go.
The Eagles held Medomak scoreless in the second half, but were unable to breach the Panther net on 12 shots on goal. Five were stopped by Beck and the other seven sailed way over the net. Morris made nine saves for the Eagles.
Medomak 2- Mt.View 0
Medomak Valley boys soccer team picked up their third straight win, with a 2-0 victory over Mt. View on the road on Tuesday. The Panthers have given up just one goal in the three wins.
After a scoreless first half, Panther Sam Morrill netted two second half goals. The first came less than five minutes into the frame, when Zidane McMurrin served up the ball from deep on the wing. Morrill struck again with 17:34 to play when he chipped a pass from Patrick Madden over the Mustang keeper’s head.
The Panthers held a 22-10 edge in shots. Noah Beck made 10 saves for Medomak, and Seth Davis 12 for the Mustangs.
“It could have been eight nothing. We generated good offense, we just couldn’t put the ball in the back of the net,” coach Brian Campbell said.
Defensively “Micah Williamson played a great game. Jared Mank also played a great game,” Campbell said.
With the win, Medomak improves to 3-2-1.
“Once we put the game together offensively and defensively, it will be fun,” Campbell said.
Lincoln 2 – Belfast 0
Lincoln Academy got back on the winning track Tuesday with a 2-0 victory at Belfast. Devin Scherer scored both goals for the Eagles. The first was a header on a feed from Kaleab Buchwalder with eight minutes left in the half. Scherer struck again in the second half with Aaron Gonzales picking up the assist.
The Eagles held a 26-7 edge in shots. Wally Morris had a quiet night in the Eagles’ net with four saves.
