Medomak Cross-Country Takes LA Homecoming By Storm, Lady Eagle Leeman Wins Girls Rrace

Medomak Valley cross-country teams came away from Lincoln Academy‘s Homecoming with a pair of wins in the rain on Sept. 26. The girls placed five scoring runners in the top seven, and the boys five in the top 16.

 

Girls’ results

Medomak girls won the four-team meet with 20 points, followed by Lincoln with 40 and Camden and Rockland had no score.

 

Lincoln Academy‘s Nikki Leeman won the girls race on her home course, beating out Lady Panther Kiana Ocean. Leeman finished in 21:21 and Ocean in 21:58. Leeman and Ocean have battled back and forth all season, with Leeman winning the match-up twice, and Ocean once on her home course last week. The two face off next week at Belfast‘s Festival of Champions.

 

Gwen Moiles took third in 22;22, Erika Knutson fifth in 22:39, Megan Wyllie sixth in 23:09, and Alyssa Griggs seventh in 23:11 to complete Medomak’s scoring five. Also running for the Panthers were 10^th Chelsea Wochomurka, 23:58; 12^th Jordan Hopkins, 24:53; 15^th Jocelyn Thames, 25:19; and 18^th Meagan Luce, 26:28.

 

Celia Howland placed ninth for the Eagles in 23:55; 11^th Allison Fisher, 24:34; 14^th Katie Willliams, 25:08; and 19^th Stephanie Winchenbach, 26:43. Lincoln fielded a team for the first time this season.

 

Boys’ race

Medomak boys edged the Eagles 34-41 on Lincoln Academy‘s home course at their Homecoming meet. Rockland took third with 45 points and Camden had no team score. Race winner Camden‘s Widzgowski beat out Eagle Gary Ward by five seconds in 17:05.

 

Pat O’Donnell was the top runner for Medomak in third place in 17:19. Alex Goldrup placed fourth in 17:55; Josh Anderson eighth in 18:58, Caleb Philbrook ninth in 19:13 and Joe Murphy 16^th in 20:14 to complete the Panthers scoring five. Medomak boys have not lost a meet to a Class B school this season. Also running for Medomak were 21^st Quinton Vannah, 20:59; 22^nd Peter Thomoson, 21:16; and 23^rd Andrew Allen, 21:19.

 

Jalen Lincoln took seventh in 18:28; Caleb Bond ninth in 19:13; Winston Crowell 15^th in 20:13, and Luca Keushguerian 17^th in 20:16 to complete Lincoln‘s scoring five. Also running for Lincoln were 24^th Steven Severance (no time given), 25^th Reiss, 24:59, and 27^th  Matthew Poland, 27:50.
