Medomak Middle School cheerleaders won their fifth straight Busline League cheering championship on Jan. 29 at Oceanside High School in Rockland. This is the Riverhawks’ sixth
Busline crown in the past seven years.
Only four teams competed in the 2014-’15 Busline championship. Each team performed twice, with the scores averaged to determine the winner.
Cheering for the Riverhawks were eighth graders Katie Genthner, Mariah Gringle, Cassi Smeltzer and Amelia Witherall, and seventh graders Abby Bradeen, Cheyanne
Greene, Grace Kurr, Katie Ryan, and Kylie Weeks. Medomak is coached by Leanne Young.
Medomak scored 49.8 to beat out runner-up GSB school with 44.35. Bristol took third with 38.55 and Boothbay fourth with 38.05. GSB cheerleaders include eighth
graders Julia Gemeinhardt, Abi Gifford, Sydnee Lily and Monica Staples, and seventh graders Shealyn Clifford, Brittni Hartley, Makayla Bailey, Courtney Gagnon, Alonna Galpin-
Sigler, Madison Thompson, and Lydia Tilton. The Cougars are coached by Brie Konitzky.
Bristol, with just four cheerleaders, won the Busline Spirit Award. Blue Devil cheerleaders include Alison Chadwich, Liza Cheney, Jewel Farrin, and Annalee Presby.
Bristol is coached by Meredith Hughes.
