Medomak Valley softball team won a slugfest with Morse 15-10 on May 1 in Waldoboro. Gabby DePatsy went the distance in the win (8K,1B,11H). Marissa Parks took the loss (15B,7K,10H).
Morse jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first. The Panthers got one run back in the home half when Abbie Nelson walked and scored on a DePatsy single. They took the lead with four runs in the fourth on five walks and a two run error from Sophie Cohen.
Morse scored one in the third, and Medomak four to take a 9-5 lead. With two outs, the Panthers reached on an error, four walks, a fielder’s choice and a two run double from DePatsy.
Morse pulled within two in the fourth. Medomak answered the challenge with five runs in the bottom of the inning, highlighted by a Cohen three run triple, DePatsy RBI double, and Hannah Watmough RBI single.
Morse added three in the fifth, Medomak scored their final run in the sixth when Cohen walked, moved over on a DePatsy single and scored on a Watmough fielder’s choice.
Hitting for Medomak were Depatsy with two doubles and two singles (4RBI), Cohen a triple and single (6RBI), and Josie Jameson, Stephanie Hill (2RBI), Watmouth (2RBI) and Wing a single each. Hitting for Morse were Hope Faulkingham (3RBI) and Siera Wallace (2RBI) a double and two singles each, McKayla Rose three singles, and Megan Stover two singles.
