Medomak 5 – Belfast 1
Medomak Valley softball jumped out to a 5-0 first quarter lead then held off the Lions to win 5-1 May 21 in Waldoboro. Hannah Marks (8K,2H,0B) pitched six shutout innings in the win, and did not give up a hit until the seventh inning, when Mariah Sturgis and Ashley Littlefield hit back-to-back singles to score Belfast’s only run.
Littlefield took the loss for Belfast (9K,8H,1B).
Vanessa Rancourt led off the first inning and was hit by a pitch, and Stephanie Hill reached on an error on a bunt to set up RBI singles by Hope Lash and Lauren Guptill. Hannah Marks helped her own cause with a two-run triple, then scored on a passed ball.
Hitting for Medomak were Hill and Guptill with two singles each, Marks a triple, and Lash, Sophie Cohen, and Megan Sykes a single each.
Erskine 12 – Medomak 5
Erskine Academy softball defended their home turf on May 23 in their 12-5 victory over Medomak Valley. M. Chamberlain collected the win (8K,4B,8H) for Erksine, and Hannah Marks (7K,5B,13H) took the loss for the Panthers.
Hitting for Medomak were Lauren Guptill and Sophie Cohen with 2 singles each, Maggie Cox a double and Vanessa Rancourt, Marks, and Hope Lash a single each. Hitting for Erskine were Avery Bond 3 singles, Chamberlain, A. Grady, E. Robertson, and M. Gayer with two singles each, and T. McLaggan a single.
