Sixth seed Medomak Valley softball upset third seed Morse in a South Class B quarter-final game on June 10 in Bath. The Lady Panthers rallied in the top of the seventh to win 8-7.
The Shipbuilders jumped out to a 6-0 lead. Medomak rallied for three runs in the sixth on an RBI groundout to Grace White, RBI single to Addison McCormick and RBI single to Emily Harris.
The Lady Panthers found a way to get the job done in the seventh with five runs. Ally Creamer started the rally with a triple and scored on a Natalie Stewart ground out. Haley Puchalski hit a ground rule double over the fence, went to third on a Eliza Nelson single and scored on a White bunt single. Bella LaFrance sacrificed in Nelson on a fly out to deep center field. Addison McCormick hit a ground rule double scoring White for the tying run. Harris reached on an error. Emma Kunesh hit a ball to no-man’s land between the pitcher and shortstop scoring pinch runner Kaylee Kurr for the winning run.
Maddy Boynton started for Medomak, and Creamer collected the win. Camden Johnson took the loss.
Hitting for Medomak were McCormick with a double and two singles, Puchalski a double and single, Nelson and White two singles each, Creamer a triple, and Harris and Kunesh a single each.
Hitting for Morse were Camden Johnson with two homeruns and a double (4RBI), Chloe Creamer a double and single, Haley Johnson a homerun, and Brooke Kulis and Anna Frank a single each.
With the win, Medomak Valley advances to the South Class B semi-finals at Cape Elizabeth on Sat., June 12 at 12 noon.
