Medomak Valley High School held their annual spring sports awards night on June 15.
Knox-Lincoln-Waldo umpires presented athletic director Matt Lash with the first annual Art Tainter Sportsmanship award. “He was a great man that gave a great deal to the community and the state,” Lash said of the late Tainter.
The girls’ tennis team won the team GPA award with a 3.7 average, beating out the boys’ tennis team with a 3.4.
Lash presented Athletic Booster president Kathy Ludwig with the Medomak Valley Service Award. Lash also thanked numerous people for their support of athletics at Medomak Valley.
Derek Booker and Chelsea Wochomurka were presented Senior Sportsmanship Awards by Lash.

Taylor Keefe earned a three-letter plaque. Chelsea Wochomurka was named a KVAC All-Academic senior and was presented the MVHS senior sportsmanship award. Taylor Keefe, Kiana Ocean, Gwen Moiles and Megan Wyllie were presented KVAC second team awards in the 3200-relay in a school record-breaking time.
Alex MacKenzie earned a three-letter plaque and was named the team’s MVP. Patrick O’Donnell was presented a three-letter plaque and seven-letter jacket. Josh Anderson was named a KVAC All-Academic senior. Derek Booker was presented the Senior Sportsmanship award and the Coaches Award.
Rachel Keefe earned a seven-letter jacket and was named a KVAC All Academic senior. Rachel Lee was presented the Coaches Award and made the KVAC All Academic list. Vanessa Davis was presented the Most Improved award. Danica Simmons made the KVAC All Academic list. Kayla Santheson was named to the KVAC 2nd team.
