Medomak Valley Undergrad basketball team won the Kennebec Valley YMCA basketball championship over the weekend. The tournament wrapped up a very successful season for the Panthers who finished with a 10-3 record in two tournaments.
The Panthers defeated Class A Lawrence 62-49 in the championship game to win the KV-YMCA tournament. The tournament was the best of three series, in which Medomak beat Brewer and Rumford to advance.
The Panthers then defeated Gorham and Morse to advance to the championship game against Lawrence. “The team shot their way to a 25-point first half lead and never looked back,” coach Richard Williamson commented.
Medomak also competed in the Harborhouse Tournament in Bar Harbor, (won by Winslow and Messalonski) where they posted a 5-2 record. The YMCA Association held a State Y title game in Augusta, where Medomak lost 51-47.
