Medomak Valley 10&11 year old Little League baseball all-stars defeated Oceanside 11-1 in four innings Saturday night to win the District 2 championship. With the win, they advance to the State tournament in Millinocket next weekend. They play at noon on Saturday, and will also play on Sunday and Monday. The top four teams in three day pool play advance and play the following Wednesday and Thursday.
Medomak and Oceanside split in Distice 2 play, forcing a three game for the D2 title.
Medomak scored three runs in the first inning on RBI singles to Ethan Reed and Ian Doughty and a RBI fielder’s choice to Anthony York.
Oceanside scored their lone run in the bottom of the second when Alex Bartlett singled and scored on a wild pitch.
Medomak added two runs in the third. Evan Mariano doubled and scored on a Doughty single. Doughty scored on a throwing error.
Medomak put the game away early with six runs in the fourth. Garrett Hutchins doubled and scored on a Jake Bickmore single. Reed doubled home Bickmore and scored when Aidan Starr reached on an error. York reached on a fielder’s choice and both he and Starr came home when Mariano reached on an error, Mariano scored on a Doughty single.
Ethan Reed collected the win (7K,0B,3H).
Medomak played solid defense with just one error.
