Medomak Valley boys’ basketball team picked up their third straight win Friday night to improve their record to 10-2. The Hornets of Leavitt played a tough physical game, but were no match for the offensive weapons of the Panthers. Leavitt double and triple teamed senior Alex MacKenzie and held him to seven points, but Panther teammates stepped up to blow the Hornets off their home court in Waldoboro.
Medomak got off to a quick start with a 15-2 run to set the tone early. They led 18-8 at the quarter, 34-12 at the half and 45-26 at the end of three, in a game that Leavitt never threatened. The Panthers did not give up a basket in the 2nd period, holding the Hornets to just four foul shots.
Scoring for Medomak were Isaac Durkee 16 (4R,2S,2A), Isaac Greenrose 9, Dan Aubel 8 (7R), Jason Vinal 7 (4S,3A), MacKenzie 7 (2R,3S,6A), Alden Alhlolm 4, Caleb Guistra 4 (3R)and Alex Greenrose 2. Scoring for Leavitt were Jordan Hersom 12 (9R), Lucas Witham 6, Noah Poto 4, Cam Griffin 4, Kyle Smith 4 (5R), Matt Hanosco 3, Tim Dow 2 and Devin Long 2.
“Alden Ahlholm sparked us off the bench in the 2nd quarter. He scored 7 points and had a couple of blocked shots and couple of big rebounds,” coach Nick DePatsy said.
Scoring for Medomak were Isaac Durkee 15 (3-3’s), Isaac Greenrose 13 (3-3’s, including two in the 2nd quarter), Alex MacKenzie 10, Ahlholm 7, Dan Aubel 6 (6R), Jason Vinal 5 (5A), John Bartlett 4, and Dustin Osier 4 (6A). Scoring for Belfast were Zach Davis 10, Brad Reed 6, Derek Bernosky 5, Josh Beal 4, Eric Mitchell 4, Adam Heroux 4 and Dustin Howes 2.
