Medomak Valley boys’ basketball team picked up a pair of wins this week over Mt.View and MCI to improve their record to 6-1.
“Isaac Durkee had a great game defensively, holding Hunt to 14 points. Hunt averages 22 points a game. He had to play both ends of the court tonight and he played a hell of a game,” coach Nick DePatsy said.
Durkee added 25 points, including sinking three 3-pointers on the offensive end of the court. “He buried them. He scored 14 of our 21 points in the first half,” DePatsy added.
Also scoring for Medomak were Alex MacKenzie 12, Isaac Greenrose 11 (6R), Dan Aubel 6, and John Bartlett 1. Dustin Osier had six assists. Scoring for MCI were Hunt 14, Reacor 11, Cook 7, Mallon 5, Egerton 2 and Crocker 2.
Medomak led 16-9 at the quarter, 27-17 at the half and 42-29 at the end of three. Foul trouble and cold shooting from the Panthers opened the door for Mt.View to make a comeback bid in the 4th period. Dylan Keller hit a couple of big three’s and Zach Babin scored two at the foul line to pull the Mustangs within six with 1:56 to play. The Panthers spread the floor, then connected at the charity stripe for five of eight shots in the final minute to pull out a nine point win.
