Medomak Valley cheerleaders placed third at the KVAC championships, held at the Augusta Civic Center on Jan. 30. Waterville won, Leavitt was second and Medomak third with 123.9 points. The Panthers score was 12 points better than their performance at the 2009 KVAC competition.
Coach Rachel Coor said Medomak’s performance “wasn’t as good” as their performance at the West B championships, where they placed second.
“We had a problem with a pyramid that cost us some points. It was a timing issue. It got up in the long run but it wasn’t pretty,” Coor said. “Overall we did some things better, so I wasn’t disappointed. The more we can get on the competition floor the more ready we are for States. All year we have concentrated on making states. We didn’t even talk about KVAC’s, although winning would have been nice.”
Medomak cheerleaders compete in their first ever State Class B championships on Sat., Feb. 6 at the Augusta Civic Center. They are scheduled to take the floor at 3:45 p.m.
