Medomak Valley held their fall athletic awards on Wednesday, Nov. 12. Matt Lash gave some highlights of the season, including the sports teams working with Miller and Warren school children to help them with reading; the football team working on Friendship’s new field and planting trees, and the soccer teams working with the Waldoboro Rec teams.
Other highlights included Gavin Felch qualifying for the State Class B cross-country meet and a really extraordinary event at the football team’s game at MCI, when the Panthers showed class and sportsmanship by allowing an MCI teammate with a vision disorder score a touchdown. Lash read a moving letter from a parent. Lash also commended the boys soccer team for holding their composure in their loss against Ellsworth.
Lash announced that two sponsors have stepped forward to purchase new scoreboards. Moody’s Diner is sponsoring the basketball scoreboards, and Haskell Water Treatment the outdoor scoreboards.
Lash also announced that he will be instituting two new awards. He presented certificates to sophomore and junior underclassmen who earned a 90 or better (3.33). Underclassmen receiving academic excellence awards were Emily Wotton, Maggie Ryan, Chelsea Ripley, Stephanie Hill, Sophie Cohen, Adam Wilcox, Ryan Andrick, Quinn Ashmore, Jacob Farrier, Jacob Savage, Tyler Stewart, Samantha Fowles, Hannah Smith, Courtney Ducharme, Cassie Dever, Jasmin Ramos, Jill van der Schaff, Kaylee Casas, Patrick White, Dennis Westcott, Ethan Swan, Tucker Prescott, Cameron Leach, Exra Hinkley, Cale Gee, Isaac Eutsler, Adam Eutsler, Nicholas DePatsy, Ollie Brown, Jonathan Allard, and Jackson Vail.
The second new award will be for athletes who have lettered in three different sports.
The fall Team GPA award went to the boys varsity soccer team with a 3.47 average. The JV boys soccer team was second with 3.2.

Fall cheering awards were presented to Alyssa Ducharme (KVAC Academic, 7 letter jacket), Shania Melville (KVAC Academic, 7 letter jacket), Christine Wadsworth (KVAC Academic), Amanda Poland (3 letter plaque, Coaches Award), Paige Russell ( 7 letter jacket), Cassie Dever (MVP), and Rebekah Marks (Most Improved).
Golf
Golf awards went to Joseph Lobley (KVAC Academic, 3 letter plaque), Aaron Smeltzer (KVAC Academic, 3 letter plaque, Coaches Award), Tyler Emerson (3 letter plaque), Adam Wilcox (3 letter plaque, MVP), and Brent Stewart (Most Improved).
Boys soccer
Boys soccer awards were presented to Sam Morrill (KVAC Academic, Most Improved), Micah Williamson (KVAC 1st Team, MVP), Patrick Madden (3 letter plaque), and Jon Allard (Coaches Award).
Girls soccer
Girls soccer awards were presented to Alexa Genthner (KVAC Academic), Jordan Moore (KVAC Academic, MVP), Olivia Ryan (KVAC Academic, Most Improved), Maggie Cox (3 letter plaque), and Sophie Cohen (Coaches Award).
Cross-country
Boys cross-country awards were earned by Gavin Felch (KVAC Academic, KVAC 2nd Team, MVP), Daniel Bubar (3 letter plaque, Coaches Award), Josh Delgado (3 letter plaque), Deagan Poland (Most Improved), and Alex Kenniston (Coaches Award).
