Both Medomak Valley boys’ and girls’ cross-country teams ran to victories Friday night in their Homecoming meets. The boys scored 52 points to win their first meet of the season, on their newly designed course, beating out Belfast 67, Erskine 71, Lawrence 109, Camden 118, Lincoln 138, and Rockland 155.
Erskine’s Sam Seekins was the top finisher in 16:24. Patrick O’Donnell placed sixth in 18:28 to lead the Panthers. The next four scoring runners packed it in for top 14 finishes.
Josh Parmenter took eighth in 18:28, Joe Murphy 11th in 18:52, Stefan Nichols 13th in 19:31 and Andrew Allen 14th in 19:34. Also running for the Panthers were: 23. Brendon O’Donnell, 20:36; 33. Lincoln Academy’s Nikki Leeman beat out Medomak’s Gwen Moiles on the Panthers’ home course by nine seconds to lead the Eagles to second place.
Leeman and Moiles raced side by side the entire race, before Leeman pulled away to win in 20:41. Moiles was second in 20:50, Kiana Ocean third in 21:07 and Megan Wyllie fourth in 21:44.
Alyssa Griggs took seventh in 22:41 and Nicole Weaver eighth in 22:41 to complete the scoring five. Also running for Medomak were: 12. Jordan Hopkins, 23:07; 17. Jocelyn Thames, 24:02; 21.
