Medomak Valley wins Homecoming Cross-country Meets, Seekins and Leeman Post Individual Wins

Both Medomak Valley boys’ and girls’ cross-country teams ran to victories Friday night in their Homecoming meets. The boys scored 52 points to win their first meet of the season, on their newly designed course, beating out Belfast 67, Erskine 71, Lawrence 109, Camden 118, Lincoln 138, and Rockland 155.

Erskine’s Sam Seekins was the top finisher in 16:24. Patrick O’Donnell placed sixth in 18:28 to lead the Panthers. The next four scoring runners packed it in for top 14 finishes.

Josh Parmenter took eighth in 18:28, Joe Murphy 11th in 18:52, Stefan Nichols 13th in 19:31 and Andrew Allen 14th in 19:34. Also running for the Panthers were: 23. Brendon O’Donnell, 20:36; 33. Quinton Vannah, 21:14; 36. Taylor Packard, 21:29; 39. Vinnh Vannah, 21:32; 40. Mike Gilman, 21:35; 64. Ben Paxson, 25:17; and 72. AJ Baker, 32:33.

Lincoln Academy’s Gary Ward placed fifth in 17:24. Other Eagle runners finished as follows: 29. Steven Severance, 20:50; 35. Alex Benner, 21:17; 38. Wyatt Ray, 21:31; 44. Dylan York, 22:08; 46. Kevin Sandefur, 22:11; 51. Ranger Langdon, 22:22; 57. Timothy Leeman, 24:09; 61. Daniel Mayer, 25:05; 63. Matt Poland, 25:16; and 71. Alex Umberland, 29:09.

Girls’ cross-countryMedomak Valley girls’ cross-country continued their undefeated season with a win during their Homecoming on Friday. The Lady Panthers placed five scoring runners in the top eight to keep the win streak alive. Medomak scored 20 points to beat out Lincoln Academy 70, Lawrence 78, Erskine 93, Camden 97, and Belfast and Rockland had no score.

Lincoln Academy’s Nikki Leeman beat out Medomak’s Gwen Moiles on the Panthers’ home course by nine seconds to lead the Eagles to second place.

Leeman and Moiles raced side by side the entire race, before Leeman pulled away to win in 20:41. Moiles was second in 20:50, Kiana Ocean third in 21:07 and Megan Wyllie fourth in 21:44.

Alyssa Griggs took seventh in 22:41 and Nicole Weaver eighth in 22:41 to complete the scoring five. Also running for Medomak were: 12. Jordan Hopkins, 23:07; 17. Jocelyn Thames, 24:02; 21.
