Christian Moon, 5, of Jefferson, placed first in the 30th annual Huard Battle of Maine Tournament in Karate Fighting. The kindergarten student won the 5 and 6 age division.
He is a white belt, working on his yellow belt and is in his first year of karate. “It has been a long year. We started out the year fighting to get him to go, and now he loves it. He is very proud of himself. He needed an ego boost. His self-esteem has definitely improved with karate,” his mother Cheryl Moon said.
Moon trains at Huard Ju Jitsu in Winslow. His Sensei is Mark Huard. He is the son of Cheryl Moon of Jefferson and Deven Moon of Winslow.
