With two outs in the bottom of the 6th, Nick Morton hit a two run homerun to lift Lincoln County 11&12 Little League All-stars to a 2-1 win over Waldo County Sunday afternoon in Nobleboro.
Waldo starter Anthony Defed went the distance in the loss, pitching five shutout innings (6K,4H). Relief pitcher Greg Anderson collected the win for Lincoln (6K,1B,2H).
Waldo scored one run in the 2nd inning, when Clark scored on a Reynolds’ single. Waldo loaded the bases in the 4th, but Anderson pitched out of the jam.
Matthew Tomasello drew a walk with two outs in the 6th to set up Morton’s game winning homerun over the left field fence.
Hitting for Lincoln were Morton with a homerun, and Tomasello, Spear and Cole Leeman a single each. Hitting for Waldo were Will Hyland and Nathan Wren with a double each, and Harriman and Reynolds a single each.
Brett McLain made two catches in center field, including a diving grab in the 5th, and a running catch in the 6th to rob Waldo of hits and keep them off the boards in late innings.
