Nobleboro boys’ basketball team won the 2011 Busline League championship team Saturday, 56-45 over Thomaston, to finish the season undefeated. Thomaston scored the first two baskets of the game, but that would be the only lead the Clippers would hold. The Lions answered with eight straight points. Austin York scored on a Colton Spear pass then connected on two at the foul line to give Nobleboro the lead.
The Clippers scored the first two baskets of the second frame to tie the game. Spear scored one at the line with 5:19 to play to start a seven point run to give the Lions the lead for good.
Nobleboro led 10-6 at the quarter, 21-16 at the half and 41-29 at the end of three. Thomaston pulled within three twice early in the third. Spear and Kobe Lincoln hit big threes, and the Lions went on an eight point run to put the game out of reach for the Clippers.
Scoring for Nobleboro were Travis Creamer 14 (6S,3A), Spear 12 (7R,2B,2S,4A), Brady Leeman 11 (2R,3S,4A), Ben Andrews 6, Jacob Robinson 6 (13R,4S,2B,2A),, Austin York 4, and Lincoln 3. Scoring for Thomaston were Eli Thorbjornson 16, Justin Robinson 7 (11R), Walker Ranney 7 (11R,5S), Caleb Jacob 6, Jim Strong 5 and Austin Davis 4 (7R,3S).
Scoring for Nobleboro were Creamer 22, Robinson 12, Spear 11, Leeman 7, Lincoln 4, Andrews 4, David Ribeiro and Cody Tozier 2. Scoring for Jefferson were Sawyer Pinkham 18, Wally Morris 9, Devin Scherer 3, John Henry 3, Sean Burke 2 and Grotton 2.
