Andrew Novis, of Newton, Mass., and Beth Sibley, of Woolwich, were the overall winners in the sixth annual Westport Island 10K Shore Run Aug. 22. Novis ran away with the competition, beating nearest competitor Justin Giovagnoli by nearly a minute, in a time of 40:39. Sibley beat the second women’s finisher Emma Barclay by a minute and a half.
Billed as “Maine’s Most Challenging 10K,” the course runs along the West Shore Road with pristine views of the scenic Back River. Fifty runners competed in the 10K, and more than a dozen in the fun walk. All proceeds from the race benefit the Westport Island Volunteer Fire Dept.
