North Yarmouth Academy defeated Wiscasset baseball 7-2 in the West Class C quarterfinals in Yarmouth on June 11. Wiscasset led 2-0 after five innings, before NYA rallied for seven runs in the bottom of the 6th inning to come from behind and beat the Redskins.
Wiscasset took a 1-0 lead in the top of the 4th inning. Chris Brawn was hit by a pitch, moved to second on an Ashton Benn sacrifice bunt, stole third and scored on a Ryan Segovia single. They added a run in the 5th. Cody Verrill beat out a bunt for a single, moved over on a Zach Pickering bunt and scored on a sacrifice bunt from Devin Grover.
Mason Brewer threw five scoreless innings for Wiscasset. The Panthers took advantage of three errors, four hits and a walk in their seven run rally in the 6th inning. Will Strabley hit an RBI single, Dean Darien a three run double, Alan Brown drove in a run on an error, and Harry Fast hit an RBI single in the rally. Eli Leavitt scored on a wild pitch to tie the score at 2-2.
Mason Brewer took the loss for Wiscasset (4 1/3I,5K,4B,6H,6R) and Jason Weatherbee pitched 2/3 of an inning in relief (1R,1K,1H,0B). Dean Darien struck out 12 in the win for the Panthers (1B,2HP,5H).
Hitting for Wiscasset were Segovia and Weatherbee with two singles each and Verrill one. Hitting for NYA were Darien with a double and single, Stambley, Toey Leblanc, Fast, Sam Kurland and Sam Hutchinson a single each.
