Lincoln Academy’s 4×800 relay successfully defended their KVAC title on May 31 in Bath. The Eagles won in dramatic fashion, shattering the school record by close to 10 seconds, in a time of 8:34.67. Running a leg on the relay were seniors Nick Smelcer, Seward Matel, and Julian Frink, and junior Alex Organ.
Organ won a KVAC title in the 400m run in a time of 52.93.
The Eagles were KVAC runners-up in the 4×400 relay in 3:42 with Smelcer, Frink, Kai Bai, and Organ.
Three Lincoln runners placed in the 800m, including Smelcer 4. 2:10; Matel 5. 2:12; and Frink 7. 2:14.

For Medomak Valley, Gavin Felch placed sixth in two events, the 110 hurdles in 17.05 and the 400 in 55.38. Nick York took sixth in the shot put (38’4″).
Waterville won the boys championships with 190.5 points, followed by Belfast 72, Camden 68, Winslow 61, Lincoln 44, MCI 42, Erskine 41, Leavitt 29.5, Morse 28, Maranacook 22, Medomak 20, Mt. View 12, Gardiner 10, and Oceanside 5.
Girls results
Lincoln Academy freshman Sophie Schumacher was KVAC runner-up in the 400m in a time of 1:02.9, and she placed fifth in the 200 in 28.63. Samantha Burke took third in the shotput (30’3.5″).
Lincoln Academy record holder Lydia Harris placed fourth in the 300 hurdles in 50.25, and Eagle teammate Lillian Bisset seventh in 52.43. Bisset also placed in the 100 hurdles, taking fifth in 17.89. Essie Martin placed sixth in the 800 in 2:36. Michaela Peabody placed seventh in the 100 hurdles in 18.24.
Lincoln girls placed third in the 4×400 relay in 4:28 with Juliana Lafrenaye, Bisset, Harris, and Schumacher; sixth in the 4×100 in 54.6 with Peabody, Lafrenaye, Harris, and Bisset; and sixth in the 4×800 in 11:16 with Hannah Nevans, Camille Lazzari, Maggie Nevans, and Allie Gorrill.
Medomak Valley’s Nicole Nicholls placed in two events, taking second in the high jump (5’2″) and fifth in the long jump (14’8″). Ashlee Wilson took seventh in the long jump (14’3″).
The Lady Panthers placed fourth in the 4×400 in 4:33 with Taylor Mason, Lexie Genthner, Wilson, and Nicholls; and they took fourth in the 4×100 in 54.19 with Genthner, Nicholls, Wilson, and Cassie Dever.
