Medomak Valley baseball nipped the Black Bears 5-3 in Waldoboro on Monday. Relief pitcher Isaac Durkee collected the win (3I,0R,1H,0B,3K). Chris Benedict got the start (4I,3R,3H,2B,6K). Ballard took the loss for Maranacook.
Medomak took a 1-0 lead in the 1st inning when Isaac Durkee singled, moved over on a Williamson single and scored when Alex Greenrose reached on an error. Maranacook scored one in the 1st on an RBI sacrifice to Clough and two in the 4th on a two run homerun to Clough.
Medomak rallied for four runs in the bottom of the 6th to win the game. Isaac Greenrose reached on an error (scored wild pitch), Shane Osier was hit by a pitch, and John Bartlett walked to set up an RBI single to Steven Genthner and two run single to Dillon Reed.
Hitting for Medomak were Genthner with a double and single, Dustin Osier a triple, and Reed, Durkee and Williamson a single each. Hitting for Maranacook were Dakota Duplissa with three and Clough with a homerun.
“We played pretty good defense. That and not walking anyone the last two games have been the key,” coach Richie Oliver said of the Panthers back to back wins.
Medomak is 3-4.
The Huskies took a 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st. The Panthers evened the scored in the bottom of the frame on two errors, with Steven Genthner scoring on a Dillon Reed single. Medomak took the lead for good with a four run 3rd inning. Genthner hit a triple and scored on a passed ball. Williamson walked and scored on a John Bartlett single. Brandon Soper and Alex Greenrose followed with RBI singles.
MCI scored two in the 4th, and Medomak scored one. Isaac Durkee walked for the Panthers, stole second, went to third on an error and scored on a Reed single. MCI added two runs in the 5th to pull within one.
Medomak answered the threat with a big five run 5th inning. A. Greenrose hit a leadoff double and scored when D. Osier reached on an error. Isaac Durkee hit an RBI single, Genthner was hit by a pitch and Williamson drew a walk to load up the bases for an RBI walk to Reed. Genthner scored on a wild pitch and Williamson scored when the ball went out of play.
The Panthers added a run in the 6th when A. Greenrose walked, stole second, went to third on a John Murray ground out and scored on a D. Osier sacrifice fly.
Shane Osier had the defensive play of the game with a diving catch in right field.
Hitting for Medomak were A. Greenrose with a double and single, I. Durkee and Reed two singles each, Genthner a triple, I. Greenrose and Murray a double each and Bartlett a single. Hitting for MCI were Egerton with three, Adam Egdem a double and single, Izumi and Cody Thies 2 singles each and AJ Denis one.
