Medomak Valley tied Oceanside 1-1 in their KVAC opener in Waldoboro on Sept. 5. In the three years since Oceanside was formed, joining Rockland and Georges Valley, the Mariners had won every contest on the soccer pitch.
Caleb Robinson gave Oceanside the lead in the first half with Christian Straka collecting the assist. Micah Williamson knotted the score with 8:20 to play on a corner kick by Sam Morrill. Ollie Brown collected the ball and kicked back to Williamson, who banked a shot off a defender and in.
Oceanside controlled the pace in the first half and Medomak in the second. There were few chances to score in sudden death overtime. Oceanside missed high on a golden opportunity in the first half. Medomak came up empty on a scramble in front of the Mariner net early in the second overtime, and Oceanside was stopped by Noah Beck.
Oceanside held a slight 11-10 advantage in shots between the two evenly matched teams. Beck made 10 saves in net for Medomak and Coby Dorr nine for Oceanside.
Camden 6 – Medomak 0
The Windjammers sailed past Medomak boys soccer 6-0 in Camden on Tuesday. Josiah Simko gave Camden a 3-0 halftime lead. The fourth goal was considered an own goal, as it bounced off a defender and in on a direct kick. Bill Bracher and Max Pushaw added second half goals. Adding assists were Jack Gallagher and Josh Pitcarin.
Medomak had their chances to score, including banking the ball off the cross bar twice. Camden held a 12-5 advantage in shots. Noah Beck made three saves, and Cameron Robinson none for Medomak, and Adam Thorn made two saves for the Jammers.
