Medomak Valley boys’ basketball team picked up wins over Nokomis and Waterville this week, and lost a physical game with Winslow. The Panthers’ record is 8 wins, 2 losses.
Scoring for Medomak were Alex MacKenzie with a career high 25 (9 for 11 from foul line), Jason Vinal 11 (6S,3-3s), Dustin Osier a career high 10 (2-3s), Isaac Durkee 5, Isaac Greenrose 4, Dan Aubel 2, John Bartlett 2, Alex Greenrose 2 and Caleb Guistra 1. Scoring for Nokomis were Braley 18, Welch 11, Pearl 5, Wing 5, and Higgins 2.
Waterville double and tripled teamed Medomak’s Alex MacKenzie. “Fortunately for us, other people stepped up,” DePatsy added.
Scoring for Medomak were Isaac Durkee 17 (3-3’s), Isaac Greenrose 9 (2-3s), Dan Abuel 8, MacKenzie 8, Dustin Osier 7, John Bartlett 2, Alex Greenrose 2, and Zach Judkins 2. Alden Ahlholm led Medomak on the boards with 8 rebounds, and Jason Vinal had 7 assists. Scoring for Waterville were Cam Mitchell 8, Brandon Braley 6, Nick Lee 5, Josh Gormley 3, Max Brown 3, Ryan Gormley 2, Darien Icero 2, Matt Lynch 1, and Michael Bailey 1.
Medomak sent the Raiders to the line for 12 fouls shots when they (Medomak) held the lead in 4th quarter. Winslow made 10 of the freebies to come from behind to tie the score with 4:37 to go. With the game tied, the Panthers made one of four foul shots to retake the lead.
Medomak’s shooting went cold. The Panthers were forced to foul, and the Raiders took full advantage to go on a 9-2 run, including sinking seven of eight foul shots in the final minute of play to pull out a 45-39 win.
Winslow scored only one basket from the floor in the 4th quarter, but made 15 of 20 fouls shots to outscore the Panthers 18-7 in the final period.
Medomak led 9-6 at the quarter, the score was tied 17-17 at the half and the Panthers held a 32-27 lead at the end of three. Medomak scored five three-pointers in the loss, two from Isaac Greenrose and Jason Vinal and one from Dan Aubel.
