The Panther softball team won the 16U USA/ASA State Softball Tournament in Brewer on July 8 & 9. The Medomak Valley based Panthers won all four games they played in.
“I am very proud of these girls. We were behind in all four games and they fought hard every step of the way to win it. It says a lot about their character,” coach Richard Vannah said.
Class A and Class B teams were grouped together in the tournament. Class A teams were travel teams that can draw players from anywhere, and Class B teams were school based teams.
Playing in the tournament were Class A Lady Herricanes, Maine Explosion, Maine Revere, Screamin Eagles and Team Attack, and Class B schools included the Panthers (Medomak), Eddies, Old Town and Bangor.
A full report will appear in the July 13 issue of the LCN.
