Gray NG softball defeated Lincoln Academy 2-1 on June 11 in Newcastle in a West Class B Regional quarter-final match-up.
Alie Martel collected the win for the Patriots (4H,3K,2B). Abby Farrin took the loss for the Eagles (7K,1B,6H).
Gray NG took a 1-0 lead in the third when Maria Valente singled and scored on a fly ball to right field from Martel that clipped of an outfielder’s glove. They added a run in the sixth when Cara Waltz singled, stole to third and scored on a Kaelyn Woods sacrifice fly.
Lincoln got on the boards with a run in the sixth with a two out rally on three straight singles to Morgan Achorn, Miranda Achorn and Farrin (RBI).
Hitting for the Eagles were Morgan Achorn with two singles, and Miranda Achorn and Abbie Farrin a single each. Valente led the Patriots with a double and two singles.
