Newcastle teenager Bailey Plourde was in ninth place after the first round of the Maine Women’s Amateur, held in Brunswick, out of a field of 77 golfers. Plourde shot an 18 hole total of 41-41-82. Leader Kris Kannegieser (Martindale) topped the charts with a 38-41-79.
Wawenock Golf Course women scored as follows: Traci Beier 45-45-90; Linda MacNeil 47-45-92; Evie Graham 47-54-101; Ewa Prokopiuk 47-55-102; and Trudi Snediker 55-55-110. Boothbay golfer Jane Flower shot a 44-52-96.
