Bailey Plourde of Newcastle won the Maine State Junior Amateur Championship held in Val Halla Golf Club on August 6 and 7. The format was a 36 hole 2 day tournament play. Plourde had a 10 stroke lead (82) after the first day, ahead of last year’s 13-14-year-old defending champion Erin Holmes (92).
Day two brought a challenging round for both girls, although Plourde held off Holmes and took the MSGA Championship with an 11 stroke win. Plourde shot a 90 finishing with a 172 and Holmes shot a 91 finishing with a 183.
