Medomak Middle School collected the very first trophies for their new school on Oct. 9 at the Busline League championships, held at Camden. The girls and boys placed second.
Girls’ results
Medomak scored 66 to place second behind Lincolnville (60). Camden was third with 68, Boothbay 83, Rockland 92, GSB 154, Belfast 171 and Searsport 189. Rockland’s Abby Hersom won the race in 14:33. Kelsey Grady was the top River Hawk runner in sixth place in 16:38.Abigail Vail was ninth in 16:56; Shannon Staples 11th in 17:23; Brooke Benedict 13th in 17:29; Ellen True was 27th in 18:48; and Anne Bartlett 52nd in 27:53.
Olivia York led GSB with a 22nd place finish in 18:17; Maggie Nevens placed 25th in 18:30; 26th Hannah Fake, 18:35; 33rd Kara Pranes, 19:19; 48th Elizabeth Simonds, 21:03; 50th Lexie Dalton, 21:22; and 53rd Elaine Fitzpatrick, 33:15.
Boys’ results
Belfast boys won the boys race with 46 points, followed by Medomak 79, Lincolnville 79, Boothbay 91, Camden 93, GSB 148, Rockland 179, Searsport 188. The River Hawks and Lincolville tied, with Zach Rideout breaking the tie, finishing 34th, two places ahead of Lincolville’s Eli McCusker. Belfast’s Carl Pilliterri was the individual race winner in 14:12.
Nick Anderson led Medomak with a fourth place finish in 15:13; Daigan McKusic was 13th in 15:26; Taylor Packard was 17th in 15:44; Kenny Scheimreif 18th in 15:51; Alexander Casas was 27th in 16:14; Zac Rideout 34th in 16:56; and Will Blodgett 42nd in 18:38.
In the JV race, Mike Canfield was first, Stephen Carleton second and Waneta Randall third for the River Hawks.
Alex Tomasello led GSB with a sixth place finish in 14:41; Angus Fake was 22nd; Kevin Sanderfur 31st in 16:41; Hank Fitzpatrick 48th in 22:04; and Josh Hoepner 52nd in 24:43.
