Scarborough defeated Lincoln County 9-10 Little League softball all-stars 13-3 in four innings on Aug. 5 to eliminate them from the State tournament in Ellsworth.
Scarborough jumped out to a 7-0 lead. They scored three runs in the 3rd on an RBI single to Abbie Murrell and two run single to Tori Hale. They added three in the 2nd on an RBI fielder’s choice to Chloe Gorey, RBI single to Mary Farnkoff and RBI error to Sarah Linchan. Hale singled and stole home on a passed ball in the top of the 3rd.
Lincoln scored one run in the bottom of the 3rd when Brie Wajer reached on a fielder’s choice and scored on an Olivia York bunt single.
Scarborough broke the game open with six runs in the 4th, highlighted by a three run double from Gorey and two run single from Mary Farnkoff.
Lincoln’s rally fell short with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 4th. Lincoln scored two but it was not enough to prevent the mercy ruling. Kiley Poland and Bailey Plourde drew walks. Poland scored on a Kate Leamille single and Plourde on a bases loaded walk to Sophie Schumacher.
Hitting for Lincoln were Wajer, O. York and Leamille with a single each. Hitting for Scarborough were Farnkoff and Hale two singles each, Gorey a double, and Murrell and Chloe Griffin and Ryan a single each.
