Scrubs won their third straight championship in the Waldoboro First Baptist Church’s Division 1 Men’s Basketball League Monday night. Scrubs rallied from 15 down to beat Wiscasset Hink’s Bait 47-44.
The Division III winner was Lincoln County News, who defeated Cornerstone 53-36. The Division II winner Sunset Knoll Landscaping, defeated Belfast 60-46.
Matt Hinkley, of Wiscasset, won the three-point competition with 52 points. David McLellan was second with 49, J.W. Oliver and Kurt Snyder tied for third with 36, Jamie Jones was fifth with 32 and Bryan Sidelinger sixth with 29.

Scrubs 47 – Wiscasset 44
Scrubs trailed by as many as 15 points, before rallying in the second half to beat Wiscasset Hink’s Bait by three, 47-44. Wiscasset led 29-16 at the half. Scrubs shut them down offensively, holding them scoreless for the first 12 minutes of the second half in a rematch of last year’s championship game.
Scrubs took the lead on a three point play at the line from Isaiah Brathwaite then built a six point lead. Wiscasset retook the lead 37-36 with six minutes to play on Jamie Jones three-pointer.
Ryan Conrad made good at the line for a three point play and Zach Farrington scored off a steal to put Scrubs up by four.
Matt Hinkley scored and Jones hit another three to recapture the lead for Wiscasset with 45 seconds to play, 44-43. Scrubs muscled their way to the hoop, and Conrad hit two foul shots with 17 seconds left for a three point win for Scrubs.
Scoring for Scrubs were Josh Berard 11, Conrad 11, Brathwaite 10, Brooks Spaulding 6, Josh Acedo 5, Justin Poland, and Zach Farrington 2.
Wiscasset netted nine three-pointers in the loss. Scoring for Wiscasset were Matt Brewer 9 (2-3s), Erik Matzell 9 (3-3s), Chris Hersom 7 (1-3), Jamie Jones 6 (2-3s), Rick Brown 6, Matt Hinkley 5, and Jason Dighton 3.

Sunset Knoll 60 – Belfast 46
Sunset Knoll Landscaping and Greenhouse defeated Belfast 60-46 for the Division II championship. Sunset Knoll jumped out to an early lead, and led 34-23 at the half. They continued to build on their lead to win by 14.
Scoring for Sunset Knoll were Stephen Benner 23, Shane Osier 10, Brian Walton 7, Jeremy Reynolds 5, Isaac Greenrose 5, Colin O’Donnell 4, Ryan McNelly 4, and Alex Greenrose 2.
Scoring for Belfast were Travis Benjamin 22, Jason Hughes 15, Kory Doolan 4, Bob Hughes 3, and Kaleb Benjamin 2.

LCN 53 – Cornerstone 36
Lincoln County News led from the opening basket in their 53-36 win over Cornerstone in the Division III championships. Scoring for LCN were Chris McKenney 18, Joe Hoyt 10, J.W. Oliver 7, Sam Hancock 6, Ryan Moore 6, and Gage Peaslee, Darren Williams, and Nate Sullivan 2 each.
Scoring for Cornerstone were Chris Fernald 11, Alan Beck 6, Dylan Shay 6, Nate Froesman 4, Joel Lufkin 3, and Mike Reed 2.
LCN was led in rebounding by Oliver and Williams.
