CLAW wrestler Adam St. Cyr placed second last this weekend at Marshwood’s 2014 New England Youth Wrestling Invitational Classic. St. Cyr competed in an eight-man bracket.
Approximately 1200 wrestlers from New England, ages Pre-K to eighth grade, competed on April 5 at the Cumberland County Civic Center.
St. Cyr beat Parker Darge from Oceanside in the quarter finals by a major decision 12-1. In the semifinals, he beat Kaden Dustin from the Lebanon Die Hard team by a minor decision 11-6, and in the finals, he lost to Jared Hood from Hingham, Mass.
St. Cyr competed in 11 tournaments this year. He placed first twice (at the Oxford Hills and Medomak tournaments), placed second eight times (New England, State, Camden, Mt. Valley, Noble, Mt. Ararat, Bucksport, and Bonnie Eagle tournaments), and third once at the Matt Rixs Memorial Tournament.
His record for the year was 25.3 wins, nine loses. The nine loses were to only five other wrestlers.
St. Cyr is in first grade at Jefferson Village School and is 6-years-old. He wrestled in the Bantam division (grades 1 and 2) in the 48-pound weight class. He is the son of Shawn and Jenn St. Cyr of Jefferson.
