St.George used their trademark physical defense to pull away from Nobleboro in the fourth quarter and win 42-32 in the Busline League small school division South championship on Jan. 18 in Tenants Harbor.
St.George led 6-4, 20-16 and 30-26 at the quarter breaks in the closely matched contest. Nobleboro scored the opening basket for their only lead of the game. Down four at the half, the Lady Lions scored the first two hoops of the third quarter to tie the game 20-20. Olivia Stiles and Katelin Tozier converted on the offensive boards in the rally.
Tozier scored the opening basket of the fourth to pull Nobleoboro within two, before St. George rattled off seven straight points.
Scoring for Nobleboro were Maddy York 10 (4R,6S), Tozier 6 (14R,2B,5S), Stiles 5 (10R,2B,2S), Eliza Spear 4 (4R,5S), Kaydence Barbour 2, Hayley Phillips 2 and Page Lafrenaye 1 (4r,3S).
