Team Mobius competed in the 2013 Special Olympic Winter Games at Sugarloaf on Jan. 29. Nine athletes competed in cross country skiing, downhill skiing and snowshoeing.
Christy Hopkins took gold and silver in the 50-m and 100-m snowshoe. Christina Rawson took bronze in the 25-m showshoe.
Tamya Carter took bronze in the 50-m and fifth in the 100-m snowshoe. Will Groce took silver in the 50-m snowshoe and sixth in the 100-m. Joshua Strong took gold and silver in the 50-m and 100-m snowshoe.
Danny Kelley took fifth in both the 25-m and 50-m snowshoe. Laurie Curtis took fifth in the 100-m cross country in her first time competing. Donnie Dunning took bronze in the alpine super G and alpine slalom and fifth in the alpine giant slalom.
“The team and coaches would like to thank all the people that donated bottles or contributed money. Without their help this trip would not have been possible,” coach Fondi York said.
