Tri-County defeated Midcoast 14 Babe Ruth All-stars 3-1 in their first game of the State Tournament in Augusta on July 14. True Crane and Adam Sirois pitched in the loss for Midcoast. Dawson Jones collected the win for Tri-County.
Tri-County scored one run in the second inning when Bryan Micklan was hit by a pitch and scored on a Dawson ground out. They added two runs in the third. Keegan Watson reached on a fielder’s choice and scored on a Fisher Cormier double. Cormier scored on a wild pitch.
Midcoast got on the boards in the seventh inning when Obie Miller reached on an error and scored on a Jason Greenleaf single
Hitting for Midcoast were Nate Coombs with a triple and Crane, Greenleaf and Sirois a single each. Hitting for Tri-County were Courmier and Ty LeBlond with a double each.
Mid Coast plays Portland at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, South Portland at 11 a.m. on Sunday, and Augusta at 4:30 on Sunday
All games are at McGuire Field in Augusta.
