Union Farm Equipment defeated Penobscot Bay Dentistry 12-11 in the Mid Coast Babe Ruth Championship game on July 5 at Belfast Area High School.
Ryan Creamer collected the win for Union and went 4.2 innings (4R,5K,1B,7H). Pitching in relief was Wyatt Fillmore (.1I,0K,3B,2H,4R) and Conner Simmons (2I,3R,1K,7B,0H).
Taking the loss was Jason Bartlett (3.2I,3K,8B,3H,8R). Also pitching was Kota Payson with (3.1I,2K,5B,5H,4R).
Union jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the top of the first inning with 7 walks and 3 singles.
Pen Bay scored 1 run in the 1st inning when Barlett scored on Max Lewis sacrifice fly.
Union held Pen Bay scoreless for two innings while they added 4 runs in the third with an RBI from Duncan Widdecomb, Creamer RBI single and Fillmore two run single.
Pen Bay scored 3 runs in the fourth with a 2 RBI single from Bartlett and an RBI single from C. Kelly to trail Union 11-4.
Union added one more in the fifth but Pen Bay rallied in the last 3 innings to bring the score within 3 runs going into the bottom of the seventh inning.
Pen Bay loaded the bases with no outs, Bartlett got HBP, scoring C. Sanders to pull within two, 12-10.
Payson grounded out but collected an RBI to pull Pen Bay with one, 12-11 with 2 outs. Lewis was intentionally walked, loading the bases once again. Tanner Veilleux popped out to Creamer to end the game with a score of 12-11.
Collecting hits for Union were Travis Wyman with two singles, Fillmore a double, and Creamer, Widdecomb, Aiden Starr, Noah Crosby and Jonah Miller with a single each,
Hitting for Pen Bay were Sanders and Cournoyer with two singles each, Payson a double, and Bartlett, Lewis, Veilleux and Goscinski a single each.
