Planning for the 2015 season of the Waldoboro Recreation Department’s Adult Co-ed Softball League has begun. An informational meeting for all returning and prospective team captains will be held Monday, Aug. 3 at 5:30 p.m. at the Waldoboro town office.
Anyone desiring to enter a team is encouraged to attend. Team registrations for the 2015 season, along with an entry fee of $20 per person, are due to the Waldoboro Recreation Department no later than Aug. 12.
The league is limited to 16 teams. Returning and Waldoboro-based teams have first priority. Games begin around the third week of August and conclude with playoffs, scheduled for early October.
Teams play twice per week (weekday evenings and Sunday afternoons) at Medomak Valley High School, Medomak Middle School, Philbrook Field (A.D. Gray), the Waldoboro Little League field, and Friendship Recreation Field.
This is purely a recreational league for older adults with an emphasis on having fun and enjoying the game of softball. Players must be 18 to play and the average age of the game-day lineup must be 33 years of age.
Men must use league-provided wooden bats. Three women must be in the field at all times. Persons interested in entering a team should contact the recreation department as soon as possible.
Rules and registration forms are available at the Waldoboro town office or online at www.waldoboromaine.org. For more information, call Kyle at 832-5369 ext. 308 or email rec@waldoboromaine.org.
