Lincoln Academy girls’ basketball team led through the first half, but were unable to contain the Purple Panthers of Waterville, falling 28-36 Friday night on the road. The Eagles led 9-8 at the quarter, 22-14 at the half, and 26-23 at the end of three. Katherine Bolster fouled out in the fourth quarter and the Eagles fell apart, scoring just two points in the final period.
“Our foul shooting kind of let us down a little bit. We only shot 7 of 17 at the foul line,” coach Conrad Lewis said.
Waterville “was short on players like we are. They only had 12 available on the night,” for the JV and varsity game, Lewis added.
Scoring for Lincoln were Bolster 14, Laura Soohey 6, Merissa Look 5, Marni Jones 2 and Jenn Genthner 1. Scoring for Waterville were Ashley Gagne 12, Lauren Crane 8, Jenna Gagnon 6, Emily Karter 4, Colleen O’Donnell 3 and Kiley Gardiner 3.
