The Westport Island Shore Run 10K Road Race will be held on Sun., Aug. 23 at 9 a.m. The race starts at the old Town Hall on the Main Road (Rt. 144) and is on USATF certified course through scenic pines and fire tree forests, over two bridges spanning inlets to Heal Cove and Montsweag Bay.
The race is known statewide as “Maine’s Most Challenging 10K race.” There will also be a 3.5 mile fun walk starting at the old Town Hall at 8:30 a.m.
The race is a benefit for the Westport Island Volunteer Fire Department, whose members will be directing traffic and providing logistical support at the race.
