Wiscasset baseball snapped a three game losing streak Monday, with an 11-6 win over visiting Winthrop.
Jason Weatherbee collected the win in five innings of work (6K,5H,1HP,0B), and Ashton Benn pitched the final two innings (2H,1B,1HP,0K). Richer took the loss and Conant pitched in relief for Winthrop.
Wiscasset took a 5-0 lead in the fifth on an error, walk and singles to Weatherbee, Brandon Bailey, and Devin Grover. They added a run in the third on a walk to Weatherbee and sacrifice fly to Eddie Stewart. Reeve hit a two run homerun for Winthrop in the fourth. Wiscasset scored one in the fourth on a walk to Grover and sacrifice fly to Benn for a 6-2 lead.
The Ramblers pulled within one with four unearned runs, two each in the fifth and sixth innings.
Ryan Segovia hit a grand slam homerun in the sixth to squash the Ramblers’ hope of a comeback. Wyatt Reed and Grover walked and Benn singled to load up the bases for Segovia’s first career homerun.
Hitting for Wiscasset were Segovia with a homerun and single, and Grover, Benn, Weatherbee, Stewart and Reed a single each. Hitting for Winthrop were Reeve with a homerun and single, Foster and Castonguay 2 hits each and Sherman one.
St. Dom’s jumped out to a 3-0 lead. Wiscasset scored four in the top of the fourth to take the lead. Benn and Segovia walked, Brewer hit a double, Cory Hodgdon was hit by a pitch and Stewart hit a double in the rally.
St. Dom’s scored two runs on a walk, single and error in the bottom of the fifth to win.
Brewer and Stewart had the only hits for Wiscasset with doubles. Hitting for the Saints were Bryant, Johnson and Theriault.
Ryan Segovia doubled in the first inning and scored on a two run shot over the fence to Mason Brewer. Wiscasset added a run in the second when Cory Hodgdon walked, stole second, moved to third on a sacrifice bunt to Brandon Bailey and scored on an RBI fielder’s choice to James Andretta.
The Redskins added a run in the fourth on singles to Stewart and Bailey (RBI). They added a run in the fifth when Segovia walked, Brewer singled, they both moved over on a double steal and Weatherbee hit an RBI single.
Wiscasset added a run in the sixth when Grover singled, stole second and scored when Ashton Benn reached on an error.
Brewer went three for three at the plate with a homerun, Segovia hit a double and Grover, Weatherbee and Stewart a single each. Hitting for Georges Valley were Mathews and Ben Boynton with a single each. Both of Georges Valley runs were on errors.
