Wiscasset’s softball team pounded out 18 hits in their Mt.Valley Conference season opening win at Livermore Falls on April 22. The Lady Redskins plated 11 runs in the top of the seventh to win 20-6. Syd Morin collected the win (5K,2B,5H), and Tracy took the loss (18H,11B,3K).
Wiscasset took a 6-0 lead in the first inning. Briana Goud and Megan Corson drew walks to set up an RBI single to Morin, RBI sacrifice to Paige Teel, RBI single to MacKenzie Chanceller and two-run double to Hannah Campbell.
Livermore tied the score with three runs in the second off four errors, and three runs in the third off a walk and two errors. Wiscasset settled down defensively and committed just two errors over the final four innings to pick up the win.
Wiscasset retook the lead with two runs in the top of the fourth, scored by Goud and Morin. They added a run in the fifth on an RBI single from Corson, then exploded for 11 runs in the final inning.
Highlights of the inning include a double and RBI single to Carolyn Footer, RBI single to Hannah Campbell, two-run single to Morin, three-run double to Kayla Sproul and RBI single to Corson.
Hitting for Wiscasset were Corson, Morin and Campbell with 3 singles and 3 RBI each, Footer a double and 2 singles, Teel 2 singles, Sproul a double, and Goud, Chanceller and Heidi Pinkham a single each. Hitting for Livermore were Freenwood with 2 doubles and a single, and Missler and Estes a single each.
Alyssa Wade collected the win (7H,3K,2B,1HP), and Syd Morin took the loss (1K,4B,11H). Wiscasset made 7 errors in the loss.
Hitting for Wiscasset were Goud with a homerun and single, Paige Teel 2 singles, Morin a double, and Carolyn Footer and Heidi Pinkham a single each. Hitting for Dirigo were Natalie Bolduc, Paige Murphy, Tash Derove and Gretchen Bradbury with 2 hits each, Mariah Larsen a double and Kyme Dolloff and Brooke Versey a single each.
