Medomak Middle School wrestler Duncan Widdecombe won the 81-pound title at the Pine Tree State Wrestling League championships, held March 29 at Cony High School in Augusta. Eli Miller (130), Korbin Daniels (155) and Noah Munn (240) placed fourth.
Mountain Valley (MtV) won the team championship with 135.5 points, followed by Troy Howard (TH) 118, Cony (Co) 94, Oxford Hills (OH) 86, Dirigo (D) 78, Oceaside (OS) 68.5, Skowhegan (S) 67, Medomak 60, Nokomis (N) 51.5, Bath (B) 45, Mt.View (MV) 42, HAL 33, Winslow (W) 24, Messalonskee (M) 24, Camden Rockport (CR) 23, Sugg (Su) 20, Hancock (H) 18, Mt.Ararat (MA) 15.5, Monmouth (Mo) 15.5, Mt.Blue (MB) 11, SaWaLi (SWL) 10.5, Bucksport (B) 8.5, Hampden (Ha) 8, and Ellsworth (E) 4.
75 – Riley Micklich was pinned by Noah Dumas (Co) in 30 seconds, defeated Tyler Preble (N) by 9-2 decision, and was eliminated by Caden Kowalsky (MA) by fall in 4:14.
81 – Duncan Widdecombe pinned Jack Tibbetts (Su) in 1:12 and pinned Timmy Smith (TH) in 1:07 to advance to the championship match. Widdecombe pinned Everit Roy (MtV) in 2:28 to win the 81-pound title.
105 – Jakob Gess was pinned by Anthony Sousa (Co) in 2:48 and eliminated by Jake Emery (Bu) by 16-0 tech fall.
130 – Eli Miller pinned Jacob French (Co) in 2:50, lost a 7-4 decision to Isaiah Cogswell (B) and pinned James Body (N) in 1:26 to advance to the consolation finals. Miller lost to Abram Sirois (Mo) by 15-0 major decision to take fourth place.
137 – Eli Mahburg was pinned by Nic Mills (Co) in 42 seconds, and by Isaac Voisine (MtV) in 1:26 to be eliminated.
155 – Korbin Daniels won by injury default, was pinned by Dawson Stevens (OH) in 4:29, then pinned Darin Buono (MtV) to advance to the consolation finals. Daniels was pinned by Nolan Degroot (D) in 4:05 for fourth place.
195 – Eric Benner was pinned by Jared Taylor (OH) in 1:00, and pinned by Jared Smith (Ha) in 1:25 to be eliminated.
240 – Noah Munn was pinned by Ian Brennick (MtV) in 4:03, pinned Lucas Dunn (OH) in 48 seconds, and pinned David Gross (Bu) in 1:21 to advance to the consolation finals. Munn was pinned by Anthony Sanborn (TH) in 2:05 to take fourth place.
