Wiscasset High School returns five players from the 2010 team that went 10-6 in the Mt.Valley Conference last season.
“I think they’re going to be all right,” returning coach Todd Souza said. “The juniors are a pretty heady group that should hold their own. With Mason (Brewer) back on the mound, along with Jason Weatherbee, Ashton Ben and Devin Grover; if those four can pitch we’ll be OK.
“We’re going to play defense and hit. There is no doubt in my mind,” Souza added.
Souza is keeping 10 on varsity “right now” with a couple of swing players. Wiscasset has an abundance of infielders. “We need to turn some of our infielders into outfielders.” There are 13 kids on the JV team.
Team members include seniors Ryan Segovia (first base), Mason Brewer (pitcher, catcher), and Ashton Benn (pitcher); juniors Jason Weatherbee (pitcher), Devin Grover (pitcher and infield), Corey Hodgdon (catcher), Wyatt Reed (outfield), James Andretta (infield) and Brandon Bailey (infield); and sophomore Eddie Stewart (infield).
