Wiscasset moved to top of the heap in West Class D heal points with a 3-4 record, then dropped to second place this week.
“I am very happy with how they respond, and happy overall,” coach Mike Bowles said. Playing the bigger class C schools “helps us for the playoffs. There is a lot to be excited about. They are playing good baseball,” Bowles said.
Wiscasset 4 – St. Dom 3
Wiscasset defended their home turf May 7 for a 4-3 win over St. Dom. The game was coached by assistant coach Chet Grover, as Bowles was serving a one game suspension for questioning an umpire last week.
Daren Wood went the distance in the win, scattering 11 hits (6K,1B). Ray Mosca took the loss for the Saints.
St. Dom jumped out to a 2-0 lead after three innings. Wiscasset went to work in the bottom of the fourth for three runs to knot the score. Nate Howard drew a walk, stole second and scored on a Matt Craig single. Tyler Flavin walked and Cas Carr reached on an error to load up the bases for an RBI walk by Grant Hefler, and RBI ground out by Brycson Grover.
St. Dom tied the game in the sixth on a single to Harvey, scoring Tom Pratt.
Wiscasset won the game in the bottom of the seventh. Chandler Longfellow doubled, went to third on walks to Wood and Howard, and scored on a passed ball for the game winner.
Hitting for Wiscasset were Longfellow with a double and single, and Hefler and Craig a single each.
Hitting for St. Dom were Caleb Dostie and Mike Bryant a double and single each, Mosca and Keaney a double each, and Mark Richard, Pratt, and Harvey a single each.
Lisbon 9 – Wiscasset 7
Wiscasset jumped out to a 6-3 lead, but were unable to hold off the Greyhounds of Lisbon May 12, in Wiscasset. Lisbon scored four runs in the fourth and added two in the sixth to win 9-7.
Riley Austin collected the win (6I,9H,7R,1K,4B,2HP) and Kyle Bourget the save. Dylan McMahon took the loss (3K,4H,7B) and Tyler Bailey closed out the final three and a third innings (2K,6H,0B).
Lisbon plated three runs in the top of the first. Wiscasset got one run back in the home half of the inning when Grover singled, moved over on a Wood single and scored on a Longfellow double.
Wiscasset batted around in the third for five runs. Hefler and Wood singled, Longfellow drove in a run, Howard walked in a run, Dylan McMahon singled in a run, and Matt Craig singled in two runs.

Lisbon cut Wiscasset down in the next two innings with double plays.
Lisbon added two runs in the sixth to lead 9-6. Joe Philbrook and Brett Gravel singled and both scored; Philbrook on a called infield fly and Gravel on a fielder’s choice. Wiscasset got out of the jam with a double play after Craig made a nice running catch in center field and rifled a throw to the plate to pick off Darren Ward.
Wiscasset’s rally was cut short in the sixth. Craig reached on an error, and Carr walked to set up an RBI single to Wood. Longfellow was intentionally walked to load up the bases. Wiscasset left the bases juiced with a ground ball to the infield.
Hitting for Wiscasset were Craig three singles, Wood and McMahon two singles each, and Carr, Hefler, Grover and Howard a single each. Hitting for Lisbon were Philbrook and Gravel with three each, Bourget two, and Austin one.
Carrabec 12 – Wiscasset 7
Carrabec beat Wiscasset 12-7 with Levi Murray on the mound on Friday. Longfellow, Flavin and Howard shared mound duties for the Wolverines in the loss.
Wiscasset led 2-0 before the Cobras scored three runs in the second, third and fourth innings to take the lead for good. Hefler doubled and scored in the first, and Craig reached on an error and scored on a Carr single in the second to give Wiscasset a 2-0 lead.
Down 9-2, Wiscasset rallied for four runs in the top of the sixth to pull within three. Flavin singled, Carr walked and both scored on a Wood single. Grover singled and Longfellow powered the Wolverines to the plate with a double.
Carrabec scored three more runs in the home half of the inning. Wiscasset added a run in the seventh when Flavin walked and scored.
