Wiscasset Baseball Win Three, Improve to 9-5

Wiscasset baseball have won six out of their last seven ball games, including winning their last three straight to improve to 9-5. The Redskins beat Monmouth 9-6, Lisbon 4-3 and Winthrop 6-1 in baseball action this week.

Wiscasset 6- Winthrop 1Mason Brewer (7K,9H,3B) collected the win for Wiscasset over Winthrop in make-up action on May 20. Luce took the loss.

Winthrop took a 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st. Wiscasset tied the game in the 2nd when Cody Verrill walked, stole second and scored on a Zach Pickering single. They took the lead with four runs in the 3rd. Ashton Benn walked and scored on a Chris Brawn double. Brewer walked, and Ryan Segovia was hit by a pitch to set up an RBI single to Jay Lamoureux and two run single to Pickering. Wiscasset added a run in the 4th when Justin Caron singled, stole second and came home when Brewer reached on an error.

Hitting for Wiscasset were Pickering with 2 singles, Lamoureux and Brawn a double each, and Caron and Jason Weatherbee a single each. Hitting for Winthrop were Arsenault and Ward with 3 each, Lapoint two and Reve one.Wiscasset 9 – Monmouth 6The Redskins smashed 13 hits in their 9-6 win over Monmouth on May 21. Relief pitcher Brawn collected the win (7H,5K,2B,3.5I). Lamoureux got the start (2I,3H,3K,1B) and Weatherbee the save (2/3I, 0H,0B,1K).

Wiscasset took a 1-0 lead in the 1st inning when Caron walked, stole second and scored on an error put in play by Brewer. They added two runs in the 2nd. Verrill doubled, Pickering walked, both moved over on a Weatherbee sacrifice and scored on a Brawn single.

Wiscasset broke the game open with three runs in the 3rd. Brewer doubled and scored on a Segovia single, Verrill followed with an RBI double and Pickering an RBI single. They added a run in the 5th when Lamoureux reached on fielder’s choice, moved on a Verrill single and scored on a Pickering single. Wiscasset scored two runs in the 6th when Caron singled home Brawn and scored on a Brewer single.

Hitting for Wiscasset were Verrill with 2 doubles and a single, Brewer a double and single, Pickering and Segovia 2 singles each, and Brawn, Weatherbee, Benn and Caron a single each. Hitting for Monmouth were Burnham a double and single, Peacock 2 singles, Bachelder a triple, and Whitmore, Cummings, Hobson and Ashlock a single each.Wiscasset 4 – Lisbon 2Brewer pitched a one hitter (0B,5K) in Wiscasset’s 4-2 win over Lisbon on Monday. Lisbon scored both their runs in the 1st inning on two errors.

Wiscasset took the lead for good with a three run 2nd inning. Segovia started the rally with a double and scored on a Weatherbee single. Verrill hit an RBI single, stole second and scored on a Pickering double. They added a run in the 3rd when Caron reached on an error, stole second and scored on a Segovia single.

Hitting for Wiscasset were Segovia with a double and single, Pickering a double and Weatherbee and Verrill a single each. Angelico took the loss, and had the only hit for Lisbon.
