Wiscasset Boys Continue To Roll

Wiscasset boys’ basketball team improved to 9-1 with wins over Winthrop and Telstar this week.

Wiscasset 72 – Winthrop 41Wiscasset jumped out to a 26-6 lead over the Ramblers in make-up action on Dec. 8. The Ramblers played the Redskins even in the second period, before Wiscasset out scored them 16-8 in the third and 16-13 in the fourth for a landslide win.

Scoring for Wiscasset were Nick Hinkley 18, Cody Griffin 15, Jason Dennison 14, Jimmy Davis 11, Josh Hopkins 7, Sumner Averill 4, Tyler Sonia 2 and Alex Slack 1. Scoring for Winthrop were Andrew Smithgall 14, Zach Farrington 5, David Ketchen 5, Tyler Arsenault 4, Seylar Whaltey 4, Tom Conky 2, Andy Emery 2, Casey Staples 2, Chad Morang 2 and Justin White 1.

Wiscasset 81 – Telstar 48The Rebels were no match for Wiscasset Friday night in Wiscasset. The Redskins jumped out to a 24-5 first quarter lead, and led 41-4 at the half. Second half saw a lackluster effort as Wiscasset cooled their jets and coasted to an easy victory. The bench saw plenty of playing time and every Redskin on the roster scored.

Scoring for Wiscasset were Griffin with a career high 20 points (2S,2A), Josh Sonia 12 (4R,3B), Dennison 12 (4R,2A), Hopkins 11 (4R), Slack 9 (7R), Hinkley 8 (8A), Davis 5 (3R,5A,2S), Averill 4, Brad Richardson 3, T. Sonia 2, Mitchell DeCosta 2 and Dylan Connors 2. Scoring for Telstar were Joel Putman 13, Dan Vaughan 7 (7R,3S), James Kimball 6, TJ O’Connor 6, Dan Whitney 5, Ben Field 4, Corey Howard 4, Ryan Philbrick 2 and Zach Brands 1.
