Wiscasset boys soccer team picked up their second win of the season Tuesday on their home field, with a 2-0 shutout over Winthrop. The Wolverines are 2-10 headed into their final week of the season.
Russell Marr scored the first goal for Wiscasset. Nate Woodman netted the second on a feed from Matt Martin. Rambler Tyler Nussinov spoiled the shutout.
Conlan Ranta made eight saves for the Wolverines, and Matte Sekerak 17 for the Ramblers.
“Alex Webber and Bryson Grover played very well in the back tonight. Kevin Lynch played well transitioning the ball, and Russell Marr played good all around, back and forth, and created a lot of opportunities for us. Chase Reed played very well,” coach Chris Cossette said of Wiscasset’s solid play in the loss.
Wiscasset closed the gap to one when Kevin Lynch converted a Russell Marr corner kick.
Maverick Griffin put Telstar up 3-1. Russell Marr scored on a penalty kick for the Wolverines to once again close the gap to one.
Conlan Ranta made eight saves in net for the Wolverines and Boston Ludden four for Telstar.
