Wiscasset High School boys basketball team returns four of their top five scorers from a team that went 10-8 in the Mt.Valley Conference and 11-9 overall last season, including Travis Padilla, Dale Peaslee, Chandler Longfellow and Dylan McMahon.
“We hope to improve on our record. The conference is loaded again this year. Every night could be anybody’s night. If we can win the turnover battle we will do all right,” returning coach Dana Lawrence said.
Also returning with varsity experience are sophomore JD Souza, sophomore Nate Mills, and juniors Matt Craig, Tom Anderson, and Cainen Griffin. Also joining the varsity squad are seniors Cass Carr, junior Jacob Allen, sophomore Brandon Sprague, and freshman Ethan James.
Souza will start at point guard. “We have a number that can fill in,” Lawrence said.
“We expect to tighten up the defense. We can score from anywhere,” he said. “They can all score inside and out. We only lost two seniors. We were very young last year. They have been playing with me two years. They are starting out the year older and they know my expectations. We’ll have three seniors leading the way.”
