After dropping their first four games of the season, Wiscasset boys’ basketball team rebounded this week with three straight wins, beating Winthrop 62-52, Mt.Abram 56-53 and Lisbon 60-39.
Wiscasset boys pull out first win of season
Wiscasset collected their first win of the season in front of their home town fans on Dec. 16, with a 62-52 victory over Winthrop. The Ramblers scored the first basket of the game, but that would be their only lead, as the Redskins went on an 11-2 run to take the lead for good. Mason Brewer hit a three-pointer to give Wiscasset the lead, Devin Grover settled two at the line, Jordan Jones scored two hoops and Jay Lamoureux one in the rally.
Wiscasset led 29-19 at the half, and led by as many as 14 in the 2nd half, before Winthrop rallied late in the quarter to pull within four 45-41 at the break. Wiscasset opened the 4th period with a run of seven points to put the game away.
Scoring for Wiscasset were Cody Griffin 20 (8R,3A,1B), Devin Grover 10 (5R,3S,1B), Jordan Jones 10 (2R,2A), Tyler Sonia 8 (3S,6A), Brewer 6 (11R,3S), Chris Brawn 4, Ben Jones 2 and Lamoureux 2 (5R). Scoring for Winthrop were Corey Staples 23 (9R,4S), Andy Emery 10 (6R,2S), Tyler Arsenault 8, Billy Gordon 8, and Justin White 2 (3R,5S).
Scoring for Wiscasset were Griffin with 22, J. Jones 10, B. Jones 7, Sonia 7, Brewer 6 and Steve Peaslee 4. Scoring for the Roadrunners were Barker 19, Blood 16, Campron 9, Moir 4, Hopper 4 and Dyar 2.
