Wiscasset girls’ soccer dropped two games this week to Winthrop and Hall-Dale. The Lady Redskins out shot Winthrop 18-13 in a 2-0 loss. “We have not had much luck finding net,” coach Chris Hammond said.
After a scoreless first half, Karen Rice sped down the left side and found net for the Ramblers three minutes into the second half. Elaine Theriault made it 2-0 with nine minutes remaining in the game. Abbie Austin made six saves in net for Wiscasset, and Michelle Lough 13 in net for Winthrop.
Wiscasset knotted the score five minutes later on an “awesome, beautiful goal” that saw Haley Grant head in an Ali Preble corner kick. Hall-Dale made it 4-1 at the half on goals from Sara Price, Longfellow and Kelsey Ladner. They added two goals in the second half from Aimme Pelletier and Price. Syd Morrin converted a cross from Adrianne Berry with a minute left to score Wiscasset’s second goal.
Wiscasset girls are 0-5.
Lisbon dominated first half action, before the Lady Redskins rallied in the second half to play the Greyhounds even. Both teams had 12 shots each in the second half. Lisbon’s Kyrstin Ranich made nine second half saves (12 for the game) to earn the shutout. Caroline Footer made 11 stops for the Redskins.
Beaulieu gave Lisbon a 1-0 lead with 18:30 to go in the first half on a high shot from the top of the 18. Lyndsey Etter made a big defensive stop on the goal line in the closing minutes of the half to keep the game at 1-0 at the half.
Beaulieu struck again on a feed from Gamache with 26:36 to go in the second half. Wiscasset came alive offensively in the final 10 minutes of play Sydney Morin was stopped on a hard shot, Lexi Tischbein was stopped on a hard collision with Ranich, and Haley Grant’s breakaway was snuffed out by Ranich.
