Wiscasset girls soccer team opened their Mt. Valley Conference season with a 5-0 shutout win at Boothbay on Sept. 5. The Lady Wolverines outshot the Seahawks 22-4, including unleashing 18 first half shots.
Miranda McIntire scored three goals; Brooke Carlton and Hanna Foye one each. Carleton, Foye, and McIntire scored in the first half to give Wiscasset a 3-0 lead at the half. McIntire added two goals on two shots in the second frame.
Gabby Chapman and Rachel Berry picked up first half assists.
Kayla Gordon made four saves in net, two in each half to preserve the shutout win for Wiscasset. Jamie Wheeler made 12 saves in net for Boothbay.
Wiscasset 2 – Carrabec 1
The Wiscasset girls soccer team picked up their second win of the season Tuesday night under the lights in Wiscasset, with a 2-1 thriller over Carrabec.
The Lady Wolverines dominated the first half, out-shooting the Cobras 15-4, but went into the halftime break in a 1-1 tie. Gabby Chapman gave Wiscasset the lead midway through the half on a pass from Alecia Faulkingham.
Carrabec’s Liberty Chestnut scored on the Cobras third shot of the half to knot the score.
The two teams battled evenly in the second half, with the Cobras holding a narrow 12-11 edge in shots. Carrabec was unable to punch a shot past Wolverine keeper Kayla Gordon. Hanna Foye scored the game winner with 29:45 to play in the game on a scramble in front of the Cobras net.
Tylan Onorato stopped a Cobra breakaway midway through the second frame. Also playing superb defense were Foye, Maeve Carlsoon, and Rachel Berry.
Wiscasset held a 26-16 advantage in shots. Gordon made 12 saves for Wiscasset and Stephanie Cossaboom 13 for Carrabec.
